Knife Attacks in Australia are More Deadly than Gun Attacks
In the years 2001 to 2019, the percentage of murderous knife attacks resulting in death has been greater than the percentage of gun attacks causing death.
Anti-gun zealots who continuously harp with the mantra that guns cause gun crime (without quoting overall crime rates with all weapons) are just simply being misleading because the facts show that knife attackers in Australia are more dangerous than gun attackers.
Tasmanian Police Veteran Says Knives More Dangerous
The fact that a knife can be more deadly than a gun in confrontation is the opinion of Tony Mulder, a forty year veteran of Tasmania Police who served mainly as a detective including three years as a senior investigator with the National Crime Authority. He retired in 2010 after a decade as Tasmania's Counter Terrorism Commander. During Parliamentary debate on the amendments to the Tasmanian Firearms Act on 23 April 2015 he said; “a knife in the hands of a drug-crazed offender is more dangerous than a gun”.
The fatal danger of a knife attack has been confirmed on numerous occasions by police in Australia when they have been forced to shoot and kill knife attackers to save their own lives.
In Australia the Government statistics show that you are 1.33 times more likely to be killed in a knife attack than a gun attack.
